She was predeceased by: her parents, Eli Shockley and Oree Merritt Shockley; her husband Leroy Smith; her children, Billy "Ray" Smith, Beverly "Cathy" Mann and Betty Joe; and her sisters, Merrell Williamson and Rebecca Shockley.
She is survived by: her daughter Barbara James of Florence, MS; and her niece Deborah Boothe. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren.
