He was predeceased by: his parents, Elijah Jason "E. J." and Gladys Deer Smith; and his daughter Diane. He is survived by: his wife Peggy Diane Smith; his children, Julie Sheppard (Tony) and Jason Smith; his sisters, Jeanette Mercier and Mary Dean (Bubba); his grandchildren, Maddison Smith, Justin Hudson and Katie Sheppard; and his great grandchild Grayson Adams. He is also survived by family members and lifelong friends.
