He is survived by: his wife Kathy Schane Wilson; his children, Joe B. Wilson, III and Kay Wilson (Mitchell Melton); his grandchildren, Joe B. "Joe Joe" Wilson, IV, Daniel Melton and Lainey Wilson; and his sister Tari Ann LaCount.
