He was predeceased by: his parents, James Ellis and Gladys Varnado Allen. He is survived by: his wife Beth Allen; his children, Andy Allen (Ashley), Hut Allen (Paige) and Claire McElveen (Will); his siblings, Randall Allen (Karen), Malcolm Allen, Judy Thompson (Mike) and Kristi Alford (Don); his granddaughter Mary Ellis McElveen; and his pet Beau. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews.
