She was predeceased by: the father of her children James Thomas Avant; her children, Terry Lynn Avant and James Avant Jr.; her parents, S. T. Mayo and Beulah Bolen; and her siblings, Charles "Dub" Mayo, Opal Dover, Luck Floyd, Hazel Shephard, Walter "Bo" Mayo, Ray Mayo and Joe Mayo.
She is survived by: her pet Larry Long; her close friend Larry Long of Grenada, MS; her daughters, Deborah McCain (Steve) of Holcomb, MS, Tina Smith of Bentonville, AR, Sherry Lusk (Ollie) of Poplar Grove, Wanda Milam (Frank) of Grenada, MS and Lisa Eads (Mike) of Columbus, MS; and her siblings, Betty Collums and Wayne Mayo. She is also survived by thirteen grandchildren. thirty-two great grandchildren.
