He is survived by: his wife Marcia Smith; his children, Jon Smith (Courtney) and Staci Smith; his siblings, James Smith (Betty), Billy Smith (Jan), Linda Sue Bradley (Otis Lamar) and Sandra Pearl Terrell (Vic); and his grandchildren, Pelham Reeves Smith and Amber Smith.

Visitation was held on Thursday, February 20th 2025 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Tutor Funeral Home - Magee (822 Simpson Hwy 149, Magee, MS 39111). A funeral service was held on Thursday, February 20th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location.

“Marcia, How I'd longed for the days of sitting in that easy chair, in Johnny Ray's office trailer, under those big oak trees of Smith's Auto Sales and just talking all morning and afternoon long about absolutely nothing. Those were the days. Ole Johnny had a comeback for everything. Usually, a comeback that would make me laugh till my eyes ran tan tears. He taught me many things in life back then, the most important being that life is a lot easier, taken with a grain of salt. Always Rick Maddox”
