He was predeceased by: his husband Aaron Burkett; his parents, Johnny Layton and Ashia Layton; and his son Jerry Ham (Carolyn). He is survived by: his sons, Mike Ham (Paulette), Tony Burkett (Renee) and Walter Burkett (Jaime). He is also survived by 13 grandchildren; 19 great- grandchildren; 4 great- great grandchildren; 1 great- great- great grandchild; host of nieces and nephews.
