He was predeceased by: his parents, Acie Griffith and Edith Garner Griffith of Magee; his sister Dianne Mangum (Jerry); his nephew Alan Mangum; and his sister-in-law Mary Jane Griffith.
He is survived by: his wife Sue Griffith; his children, Chris Griffith-Pittman (Christopher) and Shane Griffith (Maggie); his brother David Griffith; and his grandchildren, Camden, Taylor and Jackson Duckworth. He is also survived by 8 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
He served as Vice President of the Jackson's Fallen Firefighters Memorial Foundation. The Fallen Firefighters Memorial Foundation was created in 1996 for the purpose of erecting a memorial in honor of Jackson, Mississippi Firefighters who have died in the line of duty.
