He was predeceased by: his parents, Mark Blackwell and Mardell Blackwell. He is survived by: his wife Mary Lee Brussell; his daughters, Sarah McKenough (Pat), Jennie Vandevere (Bert) and Emily Blackwell; his grandchildren, Hayden, Mary Grace McKenough, Lilla, Wells Vandevere, Hattie and John Parker Tillman; his brothers, Alan Blackwell (Cathy), Richard Blackwell (Linda) and Charles (Tammy); and his caregivers, Renay Ross, Pat Powers and Clydorius Spires. He is also survived by cousins, nieces and nephews.
In Lieu of Flowers, the family requests contributions be made to the Fellowship of Christian Athletes; University of Pittsburgh, Division of Pathology, National Sports Brain Bank and Neurodegenerative Disease Research, or The Mustard Seed.
