He was predeceased by: his wife Joan; his son Dr. James Salter Jr.; his parents, Victor Eugene Salter and Myrtle Salter Ashburn; his brother Gene Wallace; and his sister-in-law Peggy Salter.

He is survived by: his daughter Jan Gilbert (Roger); his grandchildren, Lindsey Watkins (Will) and John Gilbert (Alaina); and his great grandchildren, Avie Grace Watkins and Wyatt James Gilbert.

The family requests that any memorials be made to Broadmoor Baptist Church or a charity of your choice.
