It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Fred Gene Ray of Madison, Mississippi, who passed away on September 12, 2024, at the age of 92, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by: his parents, Lois Phillips Ray and Fred Peterson Ray; and his brothers, Billie Ray and Sammie Ray. He is survived by: his wife Martha Jean Shrock; his children, Carolyn Wakefield (Mark), Wanda Courter (Pat) and William Ray (Martha); his grandchildren, Michael Wakefield (Kakhi), Lauren Ray (Jason), Sarah Michelletti (Eric), Adam Ray, Alex Ray (Katie) and Anna Katherine Ray; his great grandchildren, Harper, Allie, Fletcher, Eliza Wakefield, Ian Michelletti and Maggie Ray; and his sister Bonnie Bowen.

Fred maintained ties with his Holmes friends and classmates throughout his life and served on the Holmes Community College Development Foundation.
