He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parent Evelynn Shannon of Richton, MS.; his wife Betty Sandra Dykes; his children, Darlinda Sue Dykes Courter, Clarence Richard Dykes (Alison) and Carl Russell Dykes (Renee Strait); his grandchildren, Alena Pomponi-Rennich, Emily Pomponi Crusberg, Charles Richard Dykes, Christopher Ray Dykes, Caleb Russell Dykes and Gina Strait; and his great grandchildren, Charles Richard Dykes Jr., Charis Rae Dykes and Keith Crusberg.
