He is survived by: his wife Martha Evans Stennis of Marion, MS; his stepchildren, Ethan Bond of Meridian, MS and Amanda Bond Stokes of Thibodaux, LA; his sister Mary Loudoun Stennis Terry of Birmingham, AL; and his brother-in-law J. Bryon Evans of Quitman, MS.. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

“Martha and family, I share my heartfelt condolences for your loss. May God's Grace provide you comfort that Hardy has gone to a better place. The old Memphis Marine pilots are having probably our last get together next Friday in Memphis and I've been trying to locate Hardy to let him know. He attended a few years ago. Hardy and I attended Ole Miss together and flew together with the Marine squadron in Memphis while we were in school. God Bless you all. Olen Akers Dunwoody, GA”
