He was predeceased by: his wife Barbara Rankin; his sons, Terry Rankin, Berry Rankin and Brad Rankin; and his parents, David Rankin and Juanice Rankin.

He is survived by: his daughters, Jo-Ann Settle (John Wayne) of Sand Hill, MS, Denise Vincent (Melvin) of Lumberton and Cindy Beach (J. R.) of Lumberton; his brothers, David Rankin (Alice) of Lumberton and Kenneth Rankin (Patty Gail) of Lumberton; and his grandchildren, Mandy Entrekin, Beth Settle, Tyler Settle, Melanie Dewease, Blake Vincent, Nikki Childress, Megan Childress, Annagail Childress and Triston Beach. He is also survived by seven great-grandchildren; and a host of friends.
