He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph Byrd and Quida Byrd; and his sisters, Sheila Gilmore and Rebecca Merrill. He is survived by: his wife Donna Merrill Byrd; his children, Joel R. Byrd (Emily), Jason A. Byrd (Mary) and Joelette L. Eubanks (Mark); and his sister Evie McClantoc (Charles). He is also survived by 16 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
