It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Kate Herndon of Lucedale, Mississippi, who passed away on September 23, 2023, at the age of 88, leaving to mourn family and friends. Leave a sympathy message to the family on the memorial page of Kate Herndon to pay them a last tribute.
She was predeceased by: her husband Clyde Ray Herndon; her parents, William W. Shoemaker and Vera Dollar Shoemaker; her brothers, Thomas Elmo Shoemaker, William Edwin "Ed" Shoemaker and James Ezery Shoemaker; and her granddaughter Stephanie Diane Scruggs.
She is survived by: her sons, Steven Ray Herndon, William Joseph Herndon (Beth) and James Michael Herndon (Debbie); and her siblings, Sheila Shoemaker Watson and Enmon Ray Shoemaker. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Cause for Hope, the cancer ministry of Summerland Baptist Church.
