He was predeceased by: his wife Janice Arlene Green Thornton; his parents, John David Thornton, Jr. and Johnnie V. Gibson Thornton; and his sisters, Bettye Sue Wells and Barbara Ann Thornton.
He is survived by: his children, Angela Thornton Lofton, Jeffrey Thornton (Belinda) and David Thornton (Amber); his sisters, Mary Ellen Thornton and Brenda Kay Glass; his grandchildren, Landry Lofton, Lanis Lofton, Conner Thornton (Brooklyn), Macy Collins (Trey), Destany Thornton, Timothy Thornton, Leven Tew, Ethan Tew, Abby Thornton and Emma Kate Thornton; and his sisters-in-law, Evelyn Green and Jeannie Green. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Lucedale Church of God.
