He was predeceased by: his wife Carlene Higginbotham; his sons, Wendell, Dewaryne, Andy and Tony Higginbotham; and his parents, Floyd Higginbotham and Lillian Higginbotham.

He is survived by: his brothers, Floyd (Effie Higginbotham), Wesley (Dot Higginbotham), Hilton (Linda Higginbotham) and Carlton (Ellen Higginbotham). He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
