He is survived by: his mother Lois Marie Griffin Tanner; his wife Margaret Edmonds Tanner; his children, Billy "Bill" Tanner Jr. (Susan Habeck), Ashley Ann Tanner and Donald Steven Tanner; his grandchildren, Alexander Tanner (Lauryn), Jackson Tanner (Madison Nolfe), Marley Truong (Kevin), Briana Tanner, Christian Tanner, Lola Tanner, Jake Edmonds, Ella Grace Edmonds, Brooklyn Tanner, Riley Hayes, James Hayes, Tully Waldrop, Anthony Rowell Jr. and Haley Catchot; and his great grandchildren, Emilia Margaret Truong and Stanley Johnson.

Visitation was held on Thursday, November 7th 2024 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Midway Baptist Church (2206 Howell Tanner Chapel Rd, Lucedale, MS 39452). A funeral service was held on Thursday, November 7th 2024 at 1:00 PM at the same location.
