He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles Cockrell and Jewel Mordecai Saarinen; his brother Ronald Joseph Cockrell; and his father-in-law Van Dorne Ming. He is survived by: his wife Monica Ming Cockrell of Louisville; his children, Bobbie Jones (Kristina) of New Orleans, Jared Cockrell (Lindsey) of Louisville and Gracelyn Cockrell of Louisville; his grandchildren, Caleb, Layla (Jordan), Lillie, Logan, Van, Cooper, Hunter and Macie; his siblings, Larry Cockrell (Debbie) of Louisville, Renee Davis (Francis) of Slidell, Jeff Cockrell (Niki) of Mandeville, David Ryan of Slidell and Clay Ryan of Durango; and his mother-in-law Joy Ming of Louisville. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
