He was predeceased by: his parents, Les Cockrell and Ethel Conn Cockrell; his wife Peggy; his daughter Elizabeth Cockrell; and his siblings, Thelma Smith (Freeman) and Mose Cockrell (Thelma).
He is survived by: his siblings, Doris Smith (C. Q.) and Will "Junior" Cockrell (Dorothy); and his close friend Marie Shaw of Louisville. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, other family members, and friends.
