He is survived by: his mother Bonnie Sullivan Carter; his wife Teresa White Carter; his children, Kimberly Rogers (Todd) of Louisville and James William "Jay" Carter, Jr. of Louisville; his son-in-law Jason "Bull" Burchfield; his grandchildren, Will-Corben Rogers (Alaina), Taylor Moody (Bonnie), Brody Burchfield (Ashlee), Landen Rogers (Grace), Bella Burchfield and Jett Burchfield; his great grandchildren, Jack, Layton, Raylee Kate and Abe; his brothers, Terry Joe Carter and Kevin Carter; and his brother-in-law Jack Oliver White. He is also survived by loving nieces, nephews, other family members, and friends.
Memorials in honor of James may be given to the American Cancer Society.
