He was predeceased by: his parents, Charlie Commer and Minnie Lee Burkes Commer; his son Joey Wayne Commer; his sister Eloise Adcock; and his sister-in-law Gladious Commer.
He is survived by: his wife Catherine Taylor Commer of Louisville; his children, Donna Renee DePriest (Kent) of Collierville, Tennessee and Jimmy Commer (Caroline "Boo"); his grandchildren, Brent DePriest (Molly), Jordan DePriest and Kimberly Commer; his great grandchildren, Sophia, Stella and Harper DePriest; his siblings, Mary Lowrey (Bobby Lowrey), Jasper Commer (Dorothy) of Philadelphia, Mississippi and J. W. Commer of Philadelphia, Mississippi; and his brother-in-law Rev. Lloyd Adcock of Brandon, Mississippi.. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, and friends.
