He was predeceased by: his adoptive son Matthew Collins; and his grandparents, Boose, Frances Jackson, Russell and Ustane Butler.

He is survived by: his wife Sarah Jennings Butler of Mendenhall, Mississippi; his parents, Howard Butler and Susie Butler of Sturgis, Mississippi.; and his children, Roma Butler (Abbie Coleman) of Gallatin, Tennessee, Abby Grace Butler of Mendenhall, Alex Butler of Mendenhall, Matthew Glaskox, Marissa Glaskox, Blake Smith and Brandon Smith.
