He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert L. Upton and Vivian Upton; his siblings, J. C. Upton, Elbert Upton, James Upton, Florence Phillips and Anna Hendry; and his son Michael Couch.
He is survived by: his wife Avanell Upton; his children, Pamela Speed (Gary), Tammy Gregg, Steven Upton and Jill Rector (Keith); his grandchildren, Michael Gregg (Shana), Gerritt Gregg (Breanna), Laise Summerlin and Lindsey Couch; and his great grandchildren, Kayleigh Gregg, Clay Gregg, Corbin, Kyler Chancellor, Cameron Spurlin, Jax Ray and Dallas Summerlin.
