He was predeceased by: his father Rev. Adam F. Hanshew, Sr.; and his son Alex Hanshew. He is survived by: his wife Veronica Ann Hanshew; his mother Lucy L. Hanshew of Danese, WV; his son Matthew Hanshew (Laura) of Alta, WV; his grandson Andrew Hanshew of Georgia; his siblings, Adam Hanshew (Monica) of Danese, WV and Suzi King (Derick) of Fairdale, WV.; his siblings-in-law, Matthew Grey (Patricia) of Sugarland, TX, Austin Cottle (Esther) of Baytown, TX and Nora Stephenson (Allie) of Dunbar, WV; and his nieces and nephews, Felicia Pugh (Jordan) of Greensboro, NC, Jessica Grey, Jacob Smith of Dunbar, WV, Lucas Smith of Ohio, Isaac of Danese, WV and Carl Grey of Austin, TX. He is also survived by two grandnieces and three grand nephews.

In lieu of flowers, Dale requested donations to be made to the American Cancer Society.
