He was predeceased by: his parents, Otho Matlock and Madeline Matlock; his brothers, Willie Matlock, Johnny Matlock and Gerald Matlock; and his nephew John Winstead.
He is survived by: his wife Ruth G. Matlock; his children, Mona Lisa Sutterfield (Sherman) of Aliceville, Joe Matlock Jr. of Carrollton, Elinda Hagan (David Williams) of Clearwater, FL, Pam Edwards (Jimmy) of Union and Jennifer Dorman (Chuck) of Gulf Breeze, FL.; and his sisters, Dot Williamson (SA) of Flora and Nita Humphreys (Ben) of Little Rock. He is also survived by grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews, and cousins.
