He was predeceased by: his wife Annie Bell Jones; his parents, William Thomas and Ella Jones; his siblings, Lucille Penniger, Lorene Howard, Alton Elec Jones, Thomas Eugene Jones and Amos Jones; and his daughter-in-law Mary Etta Combs Jones.

He is survived by: his son Alton Wayne Jones, Sr. (Virginia); his grandson Alton Wayne "Tater" Jones, Jr. (Karen); his great grandchild Willa Rose Jones; his caregiver Nancy Lou Mizell; and his pets, Penelope Jane, Yoda and Charlie. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and other extended family, including a special niece.
