With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Jannie Lee Varnado of Liberty, Mississippi, born in Magnolia, Mississippi, who passed away on November 2, 2024 at the age of 84. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Roosevelt Thompson Sr. and Alma Thomson (Holloway); her husband Willie Lee Varnado Sr.; her son Willie Lee Varnado Jr.; her grandson Christopher Winding; her siblings, Myrtis Johnson (Alvie) of Magnolia, MS., Annie Mae Carter (Alvie) of Magnolia, MS., Roosevelt Thompson and Jessie Thompson of Oxnard, CA.; and her brother-in-law Willie Cottens Sr. of Oxnard, CA..
She is survived by: her daughter Debbie Willette Varnado (Walter); her siblings, Julia Cottens, Martha Foster-Custis (Jim) and Alvie Thompson (Carol); her sisters-in-law, Jessie Thompson of Oxnard, CA, Vencie Thompson of Oxnard, CA and Velma Thompson of Magnolia, MS.; her grandchildren, Patrick Taylor, Athena Varnado, Windy Varnado, LaToya Banks Jermaine Varnado (Jason), Jeremiah Varnado and Gracie Varnado; and her great grandchildren, Zecharvais Taylor, Patrick Taylor Jr., Jason Banks III, Jaxon Banks, Jayse Banks and Jreux Banks. She is also survived by nieces, nephews and friends.
Visitation was held on Saturday, November 9th 2024 from 11:00 AM to 11:50 AM at the Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church (2497 Pilgrims Rest Rd, Magnolia, MS 39652). A funeral service was held on Saturday, November 9th 2024 from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the same location.
