He was predeceased by: his wife Mildred Manasco Smith; his son Gary Eugene Smith; his parents, Albert Smith and Elizabeth Smith; and his brothers, Albert Nathan Smith, Jr. and Robert Aron Smith.
He is survived by: his children, William L. Smith (Ann), Brenda Sutherland (Jim) and Gayla Cowart (Randy); his sister Martha Elizabeth Kittrell; and his brother-in-law Dr. Tommy Carey. He is also survived by 16 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
