He was predeceased by: his wife Mary Hall Beard; his son James Christopher Beard; his granddaughter Christina Louise Burch; and his parents, William Wilson and Zora Miller Beard.
He is survived by: his daughters, Virginia Burch (Alan), Stacey and Monica Edwards (Mark); his brother John Alvin Beard; and his close friend Jonathan Polkey. He is also survived by 6 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren.
