He is survived by: his wife Linda Newton Merritt; his son Chris Merritt; his grandsons, Collin and Conner Merritt; and his siblings, Paul Merritt (Carol) and Ada Butts. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
