She was predeceased by: her parents, John David Merritt, Sr. and Corrine Greene Merritt; her daughter Jan Calvin Elliott; and her siblings, Murlin Merritt, John David Merritt, Jr., Delois Breland and Tode Merritt.
She is survived by: her daughter Danita; her son-in-law Larry Redd; her grandchildren, Randy Foxworth (Barbara), Marisa Amann (Jeff), Tabitha Dahman-Redd, Lorena Fisher and Stephanie McMullan (A. J.); and her sisters, I. V. Kitterell and Voncile Cowart.
