He was predeceased by: his daughter Lisa Welford Griffin; his parents, James "Jim" Welford and Oneida Crocker Welford; and his siblings, James Marvin Welford (Beth) and Augustine Carter.
He is survived by: his sons, David Welford (Susan) and Sam Welford; and his siblings, Ollie Welford (Joyce), Joyce Newton (Bill), Sue Cherry and Ann Wilmoth (Bill). He is also survived by four grandchildren and nine great grandchildren; numerous other relatives and friends.
