He was predeceased by: his parents, Jack Thomas and Lavon Whitfield Thomas. He is survived by: his wife Gail Thomas of Lawrence; his children, Barry Everett Thomas (Letitia) and Fiona Travassos (James); his grandchildren, Shane Winston Thomas, Wesley Cole Thomas, Clara Jane Thomas, Bryce Finley Thomas, Spencer Dean Thomas, Gilbert Allen Thomas, James Page Travassos and Avagail Fiona Travassos; and his sister Jackie Ingram. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital.
