He was predeceased by: his wife Peggy Jo Gatlin Gardner of Heidelberg, MS; his parents, C. O. Gardner and Ella Ree Bynum Gardner; his brother Benny J. Gardner of Baker, LA; and his grandparents, John W., Sara Jane Gardner, Benjamin B. and Isabelle Bynum.
He is survived by: his siblings, Thomas C. Gardner (Fredna), Harry D. Gardner (Deborah) and Janey G. Graves (Avery E. "Skeeter"); his sisters-in-law, Kathy Gardner, Dinah Herring (Skipper) and Kim Morgan; and his brother Richard L. Whitehead. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Monday, January 20th 2025 from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the Memory Chapel Funeral Home (3100 Audubon Dr, Laurel, MS 39440). A funeral service was held on Monday, January 20th 2025 at 3:00 PM at the same location.
