With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Jeanette Newton Byrd (Laurel, Mississippi), born in Spartanburg, South Carolina, who passed away on April 12, 2025 at the age of 86. She was predeceased by: her parents, Grady Newton and Agnes Verdie Newton; her siblings, Alfred Newton, Homer Newton and Barbara Dotson; and her granddaughter Julie Byrd.
She is survived by: her children, Myra Byrd of Soso, Kiphyn Byrd (Dana) of Columbia and Philip Byrd (Tina) of Soso; her siblings, Chris Newton of Greenwood, SC, Stanley Newton (Elaine) of Greenwood, SC and Reba Hudgins of Rutherfordton, NC; and her grandchildren, Felecia Blackwell, Kyle Gibson, Shane Byrd, Allison Byrd and Alex Ball.
Visitation was held on Tuesday, April 15th 2025 from 12:00 PM to 1:30 PM at the Memory Chapel Funeral Home (3100 Audubon Dr, Laurel, MS 39440). A graveside service was held on Tuesday, April 15th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the Springhill Cemetery (548 Springhill Rd, Laurel, MS 39443).
