She was predeceased by: her parents, Charles Root and Anna Root Gruber (Sievers); her siblings, Clarence Root and Janet Bowen (Root); and her granddaughter Danielle Lynn Cantrell.
She is survived by: her children, Betty Champagne Schmidt (George), Paul Champagne Jr., Brenda Champagne Cantrell (Melvin), Patrick Champagne (Jackie), Peter Champagne (Kimberly), Perry Champagne (Carrie), Frederick Verdin Jr. and Nicole Verdin Fikes (Timothy). She is also survived by 19 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and 6 great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Monday, March 10th 2025 from 9:30 AM to 1:00 PM at the Memory Chapel Funeral Home (3100 Audubon Dr, Laurel, MS 39440). A rosary was held on Monday, March 10th 2025 at 1:00 PM at the same location. A funeral service was held on Monday, March 10th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church (833 W 6th St, Laurel, MS 39440).
