Flora Louise (Conner) Henderson Obituary

Flora Louise Conner Henderson was born in Laurel, Mississippi on September 10, 1949 to the late John Wesley and Katherine Joesphine Conner. She lived a wonderful life of faith and virtue until her earthly transition on January 3, 2022 at Baptist Medical Center in Jackson, Mississippi.

Flora was an active member and officer at Greater Historic Bethel A.M.E. Church in Ellisville, Mississippi for several decades. She joined at an early age, and served in numerous capacities to include: Sunday School Teacher, Trustee, Pastors’ Aide Society President, Missionary and Usher Board leader. Flora is well known as "Shouting Flo" because of her love and enthusiasm for praise and worship.

Flora graduated from Roosevelt Attendance Center in Ellisville, MS in 1968. After graduation, she was employed at Ellisville State School for years. Her family moved to Milwaukee, Wisconsin and resided there for over fifteen years. There, she worked faithfully at Marian Catholic Home until her retirement. After retirement, she returned to Mississippi for memorable moments with her family.

Flora loved God, her family and church family. She was a loving and giving person to her core. She embodied Proverbs 31:25-26, “Strength and honor are her clothing; She shall rejoice in time to come. She opens her mouth with wisdom, And on her tongue is the law of kindness.” We remember her many acts of kindness, and her devotion to blessing the lives of others.

Flora was preceded in death by her parents and her siblings Shirley Conner Keys, Robert Conner and Willie T. Conner. She leaves to cherish her memories: her husband Delta Lee Henderson of Laurel, MS, one son Corey (Taryn) Conner of Silver Creek, MS, one special nephew Kerwin Ely of Laurel, MS, one special daughter Pastor DeLishia Davis of Arlington, VA, a special niece La'Katherine Campbell of Laurel, MS, three brothers; Doug (Barbara) Conner of Soso MS, James Conner of Ellisville, MS, Ray (Kathy) Conner of Ellisville, MS, two sisters: Gloria (Tyrone) Thompson of Laurel, MS, Denita Bruner of Laurel, MS, one uncle Henry (Cora) Thompson of Raliegh, NC, and a special cousin Annice Hunter of Gary, Indiana. Her legacy continues through her seven (7) grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and stepchildren who she dearly loved.
