He was predeceased by: his parents, Brady Brooks and Ruth Marie Smith; and his siblings, Carl Smith, Margaret Smith Creel, Melvin Smith, Cecil Smith, Nancy Smith Blakeney and Larry Smith.
He is survived by: his wife Mary Louise Rowell Smith; his children, Kirk Smith (Diane), Sharon Smith Knight (Jim) and Kevin Smith; his grandchildren, Brynn Strickler (Jonathan), Chad Knight (Terri), Brooke Warren (Kyle), Morgan Coats (Daniel), Shekinah Smith and Noshua Smith; his great grandchildren, Jon Daniel Strickler, Charli Kate Warren, Joseph, Eleanora, Sarah and Lois Coats; and his siblings, William "Billy" Smith and Sylvia Smith Gardner.
