He was predeceased by: his mother Rachael Scott; his stepfather Dennis Scott; and his brother-in-law Ken Stewart. He is survived by: his wife Dianne Shoemaker of Pearl, MS; his daughter Sherri Shoemaker Combs (Major) of Florence, MS; his siblings, Lindsey Shoemaker (Jimmie Lynne) of Lake, MS, Ronnie Shoemaker (Peggy) of Livingston, TX, Randy Shoemaker (Mardy) of Gilbert, SC and Deborah Stewart of San Antonio, TX; his brother-in-law Wayne Blackwell of Pearl, MS; and his grandchildren, Major Garrett Combs, Michael Combs, Lauren-Holly Combs and William Dylan Combs.

Visitation will be held on Friday, January 24th 2025 from 11:00 AM to 12:45 PM at the Wolf Funeral Services - Lake (136 Front St, Lake, MS 39092). A funeral service will be held on Friday, January 24th 2025 at 1:00 PM at the same location. A burial will be held on Friday, January 24th 2025 at the Sharon Primitive Baptist Cemetery (3236 MS-489, Lake, MS 39092).
