He is survived by: his daughter Michele Bates; his sisters, Mary Ellen Wilson, Helen Frazier and Jean Vaughn; his grandchildren, Gage Bates (Mia), Noah Burrell and Brittany Thrasher (Evan); and his great grandchildren, Sarah Sawyer Thrasher, Addelyn Rae Thrasher, Sonny Claire Bates and Bailey Wren Bates.
