He was predeceased by: his adoptive parents, James McPherson and Ruth McPherson; and his parents, Monroe Sanders and Margie Sanders. He is survived by: his wife Lisa Blount Sanders of Kosciusko, Mississippi; his children, Michael Sanders (Jessica) of Kosciusko, Mississippi and Kayla Allen (Clint) of Kosciusko, Mississippi; his siblings, Monroe Sanders of Pontotoc, Harvey Sanders of Houston, James McPherson of Clarksdale, Mississippi, Nancy Hood of Joiner and Pam Suarez of Cleveland, Mississippi; and his grandchildren, Knox Allen, Haylee Sanders and Bentley Sanders. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
