He is survived by: his children, Joe Herrin, Jr. (Brandy) of Wiggins, Heath Herrin of Hattiesburg and Heather Nelson (Chris) of Hattiesburg; his grandchildren, Makayla Herrin, Macon Herrin, Stella Herrin, Hudson Herrin, Molly Nelson and Ben Nelson; and his former wife Lucy Herrin of Hattiesburg. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
