He was predeceased by: his parents, Willie Austin and Anna Ruth Johnson Griffin; his grandson Devin Mitchell Griffin; and his sisters, Carolyn Ann Griffin and Betty Joyce Tatum.
He is survived by: his wife Shirley Ann Watson Griffin; his children, Loris Dees (Randy) and Willie Leroy Griffin (Kathy); his adoptive daughter Teresa Ann Palmertree (Jimmy); and his sister Anna Geraldine Easterling. He is also survived by fifteen grandchildren; twenty-six great-grandchildren.
