She was predeceased by: her parents, John Pinkney King and Mary Sybel Davis King; and her brother Hilton King. She is survived by: her husband Ira Van Alexander; her sons, Ira Alexander (Anita) and Tim Alexander (Debbie); her stepdaughter Sherry McMurry (Paul); her siblings, J. D. King and Janice Magee; and her nieces and nephews, Emily Hunter, Brad Alexander (Mindy), Brittney Hicks (Steve), Tyler Alexander (Brittany) and Shelby Alexander. She is also survived by 10 great grandchildren.
