He was predeceased by: his parents, Luther Cothern and Mamie Alexander Cothern; his wife Lola Wroten Cothern; his brothers, Herman Cothern (Geneva), Hewitt Cothern (Elon), Howard Cothern (Elois), Doyle Cothern and Elton Cothern (Audrey); and his stepchildren, Sonny Leake, Judy Moore and Johnnie Ann Brister.
He is survived by: his stepsons, Dwain Leake (Kay) of Jayess and Dudley Leake of Jayess; and his stepdaughter-in-law Janie Leake. He is also survived by numerous step-grandchildren and step-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, family and friends.
