He was predeceased by: his parents, Allie Laura Stevens Vance and James O'Neil Vance; and his siblings, George Thompson Vance and Margaret O'Neil Vance Naugle. He is survived by: his wife Mary Victoria "Vicky" Dinkins of Jackson; his children, Allie Vance West (Chad) and Miller Stevens Vance (Lindsey); his grandchildren, Collins Thomas West, Edmond Hamilton West, Mary Rimes Vance and Fountain James Vance; and his sister Edith Vance Carlisle.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to All Saints' Episcopal Church Building Fund or Sanctuary Home Hospice.
