It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Nina Holmes Russell in Jackson, Mississippi, born in Morton, Mississippi, who passed away on October 17, 2024, at the age of 90, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, George Ruel Holmes and Earline Cooper Holmes; her stepmother Roberta Bradshaw Holmes; her husband Gerald Edward Russell; her son Glen Edward Russell; her granddaughter Elizabeth Glen Russell; her son-in-law Jay Alan Greenleaf; her brother Albert Glen Holmes; her children, Tina Russell Gelinas (John), Aprile Russell Greenleaf and Eric Von Russell (Crystal); her daughter-in-law Stephanie Bowden Russell; her grandchildren, Crystal Gelinas Vega (Josh), Chelsea Lynn Gelinas, Samantha Michelle Greenleaf, Dylan Russell Greenleaf (Sherry), Madelyn Lee Greenleaf and Emily Elizabeth Russell; and her great grandchildren, Bryson Dallas Vega, Jace Brenden Vega and Emma Leigh Vega.
She is survived by: her sisters-in-law, Gail Holmes, Ava Spell (Charles) and Dubois Shoemake (Thomas); and her caregivers, Nina, Esther, Doras, Shemeta, Theresa, Alisha, Janet, Alina, Pachausha, Eddy, LeeAnn, Mary, Tim, Team, Gina, Sonya, Julie and Green. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and dear cousins.
