She was predeceased by: her parents, Charles Akins and Mary Akins. She is survived by: her husband Sam Brookes; her sister Nell Hanratty (Jack); her children, Mary Catherine Barlow (Bobby) and Reese Wise (Heather); and her grandchildren, Lennis, Anna Cate Barlow, Clayton and Wesley Wise.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in her honor to St. Philip's Episcopal Church or CARA.
